UK progress towards EU-wide patent continues

In a press release yesterday which can be found here, the UK government confirmed that it is pressing ahead with the process to ratify the ratify the Unified Patent Court Agreement.

When the new system is in place, businesses will be able to protect and enforce their patent rights across Europe in a more streamlined way - with a single patent and through a single patent court.

The government's statement stops short of confirming that the UK will ratify the Agreement, and gives no clear timetable for such ratification, but does at least provide a firm indication that it is still very much on the agenda.

We will of course continue to monitor its progress.
