Munters, a global leader in energy-efficient air treatment solutions based in Huntingdon, won the prize for their new “Drytainer”® product. Condensation inside containers and bulk powder transporters can be a big problem for road hauliers, especially for products such as flour, sugar and the like. Condensation can promote mould growth and lead to clumping of the product, making it difficult to discharge, and necessitating costly cleaning. These problems can be drastically reduced by Drytainer® - a specially-designed dehumidifier apparatus that dehumidifies the air in such road-going transporters and containers. The Drytainer® apparatus can easily be retro-fitted to existing vehicles, and has been engineered to have low power consumption so that it can run using the vehicle’s own electrical system, without requiring an auxiliary power source (see www.munters.co.uk for more detail).

The award recognises the technical accomplishments of the Drytainer®, which is also the subject of a granted British patent, and already experiencing considerable commercial success.
