Claydon Drills successfully uphold challenge to unique twin-tine seeding system patent

Nash Matthews’ client, Claydon Drills, has successfully defended and upheld a challenge to the patent on its unique twin-tine seeding system following proceedings at the European Patent Office in The Netherlands. Developed and patented by Suffolk farmer Jeff Claydon, the Claydon Direct Strip Till Seeding System has become renowned throughout the world.

“I am delighted that the European Patent Office has upheld the validity of my patent, which clearly demonstrates that the Claydon system is both innovative and original,” Jeff Claydon stated following the decision.

Christopher Willett, a Partner here at Nash Matthews LLP, adds: ‘Whilst the separate elements incorporated into the Claydon system were known and used separately prior to Jeff Claydon filing his patent, nothing previously combined the various methods into one system, and that is the key to the EPO’s decision.”
