Cambridge client strikes oil technology deal in Middle East | 8 November 2010

Camcon Oil has signed a distribution agreement this month taking patented technology from East Anglia to the Middle East.

The agreement will give AlMansoori Specialized Engineering (one of the Middle East’s leading oilfield services companies) the rights to sell, install and support Camcon Oil products throughout the Middle East. It includes Camcon’s new Digital Intelligent Artificial Lift (DIAL) solution, APOLLO™, which provides operators with unprecedented control and precision over gas injection, whilst minimising gas usage and maximising oil extraction.

Patent protection has been sought internationally for the technology with Camcon working closely with Nash Matthews. Dan Sharrock, a partner at Nash Matthews, said, “Camcon’s world-class engineering expertise led to the creation of the gas lift device and the actuators deployed inside, and they have had the foresight to legally safeguard the valuable innovations which underpin this deal”.

Using its Binary Actuation Technology (BAT), a digital valve technology based on its patented, ultra-low energy BAT actuator, Camcon Oil is addressing the challenges of oil recovery lift through its Digital Intelligent Artificial Lift (DIAL) solution.

“At a time when there is an increased focus throughout the Middle East on bolstering recovery rates, we believe that APOLLO™ is a truly industry-changing product, bringing digital, real-time control to the production process and saving millions in unnecessary shut-downs and well interventions,” said Ian Anderson, Camcon’s Chief Operating Officer.
